Hi I’m Brad Magg, let me introduce myself!
I’ve been proud to serve on the Colfax City Council since 2009, and I’ve spent my entire life here in Jasper County. I’m the owner of Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe in Prairie City, co-owner of Spring City Pharmacy in Colfax, and I also run three stands at the Iowa State Fair — and yes, I camp there every night of the Fair. I started my first catering business at 14 years old, right here in Jasper County. I’ve built my life and livelihood in small-town Iowa because I believe in it — and I believe in the people who call it home. But over the years, I’ve watched too many friends leave our towns. Not because they don’t love it here — but because they’re not sure Iowa is headed in the direction they want for their families. I believe we are better than that. That’s why I’m running for State Representative for House District 38. I’m running because rural Iowa deserves strong public schools, stable healthcare access, and leadership that respects local control. I believe taxpayer dollars should be handled with transparency and accountability. And I believe we can get back to working across the aisle instead of focusing on national politics that don’t solve our local problems. At the city level, we know progress doesn’t come from yelling — it comes from listening, working together, and focusing on what works. That’s the approach I would bring to Des Moines. If elected, my focus will be simple: put Jasper County first. Please feel free to reach out. I’d love the opportunity to visit with you, hear your concerns, and talk about how we can move our district forward together!
