Education

In rural communities, schools are more than classrooms, they’re the heart of the community. When funding doesn’t keep up with costs, small districts feel it immediately. If we’re spending public dollars, we should know they strengthen local schools. Strong schools mean strong towns.

Healthcare

We’re seeing rural healthcare stretched thin. When clinics close or hospitals pause services, families don’t stop needing care, they just have to drive farther to get it. Medicaid should reimburse providers fairly and on time so rural clinics can stay open. If we want doctors in Iowa, we need to train more doctors in Iowa and create stability for them to practice here. At the end of the day, healthcare shouldn’t depend on your zip code.

Clean Water

Clean water isn’t political, it’s about public health and economic stability. Families deserve to trust their tap water, and small towns shouldn’t be left paying for problems alone. We need accountability for conservation dollars, partnerships with farmers, and practical solutions that protect both our land and our communities.

Bipartisionship and Accountability

I’ve served on the Colfax City Council since 2009. You don’t get things done at the local level by yelling at each other. You get things done by listening, compromising, and focusing on what actually works. I don’t care whether a good idea comes from a Democrat or a Republican. If it helps Jasper County, I’m for it. Taxpayer dollars deserve respect. That means transparency, accountability, and results.

Local Control

I believe in local control because I’ve lived it.  As a city council member and small business owner, I’ve seen how frustrating it is when decisions made far away don't consider local impact. School boards should make decisions about schools. County supervisors should make decisions about county matters. The further government gets from the people, the harder it is to get decisions right.
